Day 3 - Taipei Trip - Wu Jiao Chuan Ban(Five Dime) and Shihlin Night Market

Today is a day full of plans. First, we had Lu Rou Fan at Formosa Chang, then, we went to Longshan Temple and followed by Sogo and Breeze Center at Zhongxiao Fuxing. Finally, we are at Neihu District.
The taxi's driver dropped us at Miramar Shopping Mall. From there, we search for the nearest hypermarket. It is time to stock-up some goods to bring back to KK. We went to Carrefour which is just located next to Miramar Shopping Mall.

Bringing two boxes of Taiwan's goods, we went to Wu Jiao Chuan Ban for dinner. Luckily, the restaurant is just located around that area.

Walking towards the restaurant entrance

Entrance to the restaurant (Automatic door)
Looking at the building structure, we can hardly believe that it is a restaurant. According to the guide book we found in the restaurant, the building structure resemble two lady dancer. It was really amazing. Even the interior design of the restaurant is very artistic.
Pan Fried Rice Noodle with Pumpkin NT$200
The local rice noodle in Taiwan tasted differently from what we had in Malaysia. It tasted more tasty. The rice noodle was fried with assorted vegetables and topped with shrimps. Fragrantly good. It was Paul's favourite dish of the night.
Stir-fried Wild Vegetables NT$200
The Wild Vegetables tasted a bit like grass but it was flavourful. It tasted like they used fish sauce and ginger to fried it (it is just a wild guess).
White Rice with Sweet Potato
One of the taxi's driver told us that the white rice at Wu Jiao Chuan Ban is very special. True enough, it tasted good and goes really well with the dishes.
Sweet and Sour Fish NT$360
The Fish was deep fried till crispy and coated with sweet and sour sauce. Sourish with a hint of sweetness. Nice.
Braised Sea Cucumber with XO Sauce and Pork Tendon NT$360
It doesn't look appealing but tasted deliciously. The sea cucumber was braised till soft and smooth. The savoury with a little spiciness gravy goes very well with the sea cucumber and pork tendon. Yummy!
Grilled Pork Ribs with Garlic NT$360
At first, we all thought that it was chicken drumstick as Shirley forgotten what she ordered. After checking back the menu, it was actually pork ribs. The pork ribs was well marinated and the meat was tender and flavourful. Topped with garlic, it tasted fragrantly good.
San Bei Ji (Three Cups Chicken) NT$360
San Bei Ji is one of the Taiwanese signature dish. It tasted good. Sweet and savoury with a hint of spiciness and herbs flavour.
Special Bamboo Shoots Soup NTS180
If you like bamboo shoots, you will have to try this. The soup is clear but tasted sweet and savoury. The bamboo shoots was crispy and tasted good.
The scrumptious meal was so satisfying.
Milk Mochi (FOC)
After the meal, Milk Mochi and Sour Plum Drink was served. The Milk Mochi was smooth and rich in milk flavour. Must-try. The Sour Plum Drink helped us to ease our digestion systems.
Below are some of the photos of the interior designs of the restaurant.

After the dinner, we headed back to hotel. Then, we felt like having some dessert again. So, we walked to Shihlin Market to look for dessert.
Saw the Cold Noodle Stall and couldn't resisted ourselves to buy one. Wanted to try it for long time.
Cold Noodle
The taste was alright. Not as good as we thought. The sesame sauce was fragrantly good.
Finally we found our dessert. One of the famous stall in Shihlin Night Market. The lady's boss was quite rude, so, we wouldn't dare to take the photo of their shop.
We ordered the Tau Hua with Sweet Potato(Hot) and Tau Hua with Red Bean and Taro Ball (Hot and Cold).
Although the Tau Hua with Sweet Potato was good, we had food poisoning after eating it.
The Tau Hua with Red Bean and Taro Ball was good. Smooth Tau Hua with sweetened red bean is really a good match. The Taro Ball was QQ with yam flavour.
The cold version of the Tau Hua was more refreshing.

Today's Meditation:
As you take a few minutes each day to quiet your mind, you will discover a nice benefit: your everyday, "ordinary" life will begin to seem far more extraordinary. Little things that previously went
unnoticed will begin to please you. You'll be more easily satisfied, and happier all around. Rather than focusing on what's wrong with your life, you'll find yourself thinking about and more fully enjoying
what's right with your life. The world won't change, but your perception of it will. You'll start to notice the little acts of kindness and caring from other people rather than the negativity and anger.

Jack Canfield

Who ever defined "ordinary" in the first place? And how did that word come to have such a negative connotation in our lives? There's absolutely nothing wrong with the ordinary, with the things that we see and experience each day. If there are problems with it, then they come from our perception of the ordinary things rather than from the ordinary itself.

Life is in itself extraordinary. We have been blessed with a lifetime of experiences and people and things, yet we always seem to be waiting for something "better" to happen. But really, who cares what's going to happen tomorrow? The important thing is what's happening right now. We may have grand plans for tomorrow, but there's no guarantee that they're actually going to happen. But this moment, right here and right now, is happening.

Quiet your mind. Relax. Think peaceful thoughts for three or four minutes. See the beauty in the things that surround you, see the wonder in the simple things. When you truly are able to do that, your life will change. Many of the cares that have dogged you for years will simply become something much less bothersome, and they won't affect your peace of mind any longer.

It truly is all up to you, and how you choose to see the world, the people in it, and the wonderful gifts that we've all been given.

Of course, there's a prerequisite to awareness, we have to slow down. We have to realize that life is going to go on whether or not we rush around in order to get everything possible done today, and that our own mental, emotional, and physical well being is at stake. We have a beautiful world that surrounds us, that offers us unlimited opportunities for peace, serenity, learning, helping, getting, feeling, hoping, love, you name it, it's there in abundant quantities, more than any one of us will ever need. But we have to see it, to acknowledge it's there, to let it become a part of us by making ourselves a part of it.
