Kedai Makanan Teo Chew Porridge Restaurant @ Pudu

Image
Teochew Porridge Restaurant been in the business for ages, opens till the wee hours of the morning. Located at Pudu. Business is always good cause there are clubs nearby and right above the shop is a cheap motel. This is a typical Chinese coffee shop, narrow and with only a few tables but you allow to sit at the table at the neighboring coffee shop. Porridge here are watery Teochew porridge and steamed rice also available, with a variety of side dishes to choose from, mostly are braised meats and pickled vegetable which are laid out in trays near the entrance . We were spoil with choices! There were many varieties of dishes from curries, to braised pork, to fried salted fish, im estimating easily 40 over types. Overall, we had a satisfying meal and the side dishes definitely complement the watery porridge, I like their porridge because it was not too heavy for supper.

Wai Sek Kai (Pure Glutton Street) @ Jalan Sayur, Pudu

Image
We venture into Wai Sek Gai (Pure Glutton Street), a hidden street in between shophouses in Pudu converted into a food street with stalls offering all sorts of varieties with tables and stools all along the street. KL local favorite street food, it used to be one of the most happening streets decades ago. Famous for its food, that's how it gained the name of “Wai Sek Kai”. The glory of the food on this street lives till this day. Most of the stalls here open from 4.30 pm till late.

Restoran Sek Yuen (Ikan Mentah) @ Pudu

Image
Walk down memory lane dining at this Restaurant Sek Yuen which has been around for over 50 years, just off the busy main road in Pudu. Now run by the 3rd generation Phang's family and still draws in a large crowds with their old Chinese style of cooking food using charcoal, just like the olden days. Even the rice here is slow-cooked over wood fire and serve with aluminium bowl. We felt like we were walking back to the 1960s once we stepped in. The do have an air-conditioned seating area over the next door shop but most people still prefer to be seated at the original old building. The nostalgic interior of old wooden chairs, faded tables and polished tiles bear witness of time. We reached around 7pm, and the place was already pack, we waited 15 minutes for a table.

Restoran Lucky @ Pudu

Restoran Lucky @ Pudu Ratings: Food: 4/5 Services: 3/5 Cleanliness: 2/5 Out of boredom, I follow mum to Pudu wet market today, accompanying her buying fresh meat and vegetables. It wasn't a very clean place to go, wet, people shouting all around but it was fun to look at occasionally, remind me a lot of things, sometimes we do need to look back for some good memory and slow down to appreciate our life. Mum then bring me to this Char Kuey Teow Stall which can sell up to 150 plates a day, and she fried plate by plate per order. Char Kuey Teow, RM4.00 Thumbs up! No wonder the uncle on the next table can't clean up 2 plates alone. Savoury wok taste, not overly oily, lots of beansprout, crockles and fresh prawn. Yong Tau Foo and Hor Fun Soup, RM4.80 I like Yong Tau Foo, mainly because of the sweet sauce, as long as the sauce is good then I will say nice, haha, good. Total paid for Lunch, RM11.30 Char Kuey Teow Stall Yong Tau Foo and Fishball Noodle Stall
