The Maharaj : Where Spices Flow Freely

It has been a really long spell since I last wrote a review for Everyday Food I Love, and for good reason. Work and pandemic aside, I finally managed to secure the time, freedom and a good frame of mind to continue pursing the life worthy of a Bon Viveur. Today, I would like to share with you my first experience visiting the Maharaj, a very well-known Indian restaurant to the residents of Jalan Gasing in Petaling Jaya.

So here I present Meat The Porkers an Indian restaurant located at Bukit Damansara which you need to try if you claim to be a pork-lover. Meat The Porkers is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Herukh and Aahana Jethwani, they have created many pork-inspired Indian dishes for their restaurant. Juicy, tender and divine pork has always being the center piece of our everyday meal. It is a versatile meat that goes well with everything and pairs beautifully with different flavours and cuisines, exceptionally fantastic with Indian cuisine. Swaadh restaurant serves authentic Northern Indian and Southern Indian cuisine from Kerala and Chettinad. Swaadh means “taste” or “tasty” in Hindi and Malayalam. This is a fine-dining concept restaurant with an ambience that give you a cozy and warm feeling. Food, almost every Kerala dish has coconut and spices added for flavour, giving its cuisine a sharp pungency that is heightened with the use of tamarind. While Chettinad cuisine is known for the complexity of flavours, most traditional dishes are loaded with pepper along with heavy use of local spices like star anise, kalpasi and maratti mokku. Chettinad food bristles with a distinct aroma of freshly ground spices including cumin, fenugreek, fennel, clove, bay leaf, turmeric and tamarind. The fiery base or gravy that adds depth to most of its curries is usually made with a combination of tomatoes, chillies, freshly ground spices, coconut, ginger and garlic and is reasonably hot.

It is always a pleasure attending invite by Hyatt. If you don’t already know, Hyatt has completely redone their décor, with Less Is More principle the factor in everything fixtures and fittings. But the food is anything but less. It is bountiful, delicious, and oh so pleasant to the eye, not only because food is decorated artistically, but prepared fresh in full transparent view, so every single corner is now an action counter, with food made to order, which not only keeps them fresh and warm, but also reduce wastage.

This is where I fix my craving for cendul and pasembor rojak whenever I come home to KL from KK or oversea. All this good food really make me  feel homesick. This is one the famous cendul and Indian rojak in Klang Valley that I would recommend you to try. Usually people buy for take away but there are chairs if you want enjoy your cendol and rojak here.

We had banana leaf rice as our dinner at K.Sanba's, we ordered Chicken Curry and Curry Fish Head, the food had amazing flavor here especially their curry. The ambience is great, not stuffy, service was fast and parking was ample too. Bala's the restaurant owner and the staff here are very friendly and attentive to every table, you'll get a good interaction with Bala when you ordering your meal, he'll recommend you what to order.
