Egg Coffee at Tonkin Cottage, Ho Chi Minh City

Image
Nestled in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling café scene, Tonkin Specialty Coffee offers a charming escape into Vietnam’s rich coffee culture. Stepping inside feels like entering a cozy, time-warped haven where French colonial elegance meets rustic Vietnamese warmth. Exposed brick walls, vintage décor, and soft jazz melodies set the tone, while the welcoming staff add a touch of genuine hospitality. But the star here is the cà phê trứng (egg coffee)—a velvety masterpiece that dances between dessert and drink. Served in a delicate ceramic cup, the coffee arrives with a cloud-like crown of whipped egg yolk, dusted with a whisper of cocoa. The first sip is pure alchemy: the robust, dark Vietnamese coffee base—brewed with precision—cuts through the lush, creamy sweetness of the egg foam. Unlike some overly saccharine versions, Tonkin’s recipe strikes a perfect balance, letting the coffee’s earthy, slightly nutty notes shine. The texture is divine, akin to sipping a tiramisu in liquid...

What to do in Tokyo, Japan

Image
Tokyo is Japan's capital and the world's most populous metropolis. It is also one of Japan's 47 prefectures, consisting of 23 central city wards and multiple cities, towns and villages west of the city centre. Tokyo offers a seemingly unlimited choice of shopping, entertainment, culture and dining to its visitors. The city's history can be appreciated in districts such as Asakusa, and in many excellent museums, historic temples and gardens. Contrary to common perception, Tokyo also offers a number of attractive green spaces in the city center and within relatively short train rides at its outskirts.

Manneken Pis’s fries @ Amsterdam

Image
Manneken Pis’s fries or chips are probably the most famous food items in Amsterdam, famously served and eaten by the locals topped with rich mayonnaise, the Vlaamse Frites (Flemish fries) as they are known here. Manneken Pis’s ranks so high because it uses freshly sliced potatoes instead of frozen ones, fries them in fresh fat, and liberally salts the fries before copiously slathering them with one of the twenty-odd sauces and condiments on offer.  On a Friday or Saturday night or early morning, don’t be surprised to see throngs of people waiting in line so they can sate their drunken or stoned munchies with a portion of fresh fries. If you have to succumb to your fast food urges, you could stand to do a whole lot worse.

Hakata Tenshin Ramen @ Shinjuku

Image
A delicious and affordable Hakata ramen from this ramen joint named Hakata Tenshin, it has a number of outlets in Tokyo, and we went to the one nearest to our hotel at Kabukicho in Shinjuku. This outlet is located approximately 50m from the entrance of Kabukicho, the red-light district in Shinjuku, on the left row of shops, watch out for the eatery’s catchy huge pig mascot displayed outside the shop. Many locals drop by for a quick meal here and most of them sit at the counter. Hakata Tenshin’s thin noodles were cooked perfectly served in those piping-hot pork broth which was gloriously rich, milky and tasty. A standard bowl also comes with a large piece of nori. Add to that nice spicy mustard greens, a dash of sesame seeds, crisp and sweet pickled ginger, and a dab of garlic, and you'll get a perfect bowl of pork ramen.

Cafe Restaurant Dee Zeewse Herberg @ Zierikzee, Netherlands

Image
Zierikzee is a small city, located on the former island of Schouwen in the Dutch province of Zeeland. After a bit of sightseeing and walking around in Zierikzee we sat down for our lunch at Dee Zeewse Herberg. The restaurant is situated in a 17th century building, it was reasonable filled up with people at lunch hour. It has a pleasant atmosphere, service is very good, proprietor and together with waiters are well in control and know how to give you the feeling of being their guest. If you are in the Zierikzee area and I would highly recommend you not to miss this restaurant for their good food and reasonable prices.
