Muslims in Malaysia welcome the holy month of Ramadan as part of their faith and practice every year, while Malaysians of other faiths also look forward to it excitedly, as it is an opportunity to stimulate taste buds by touring the food stalls set up in various locations across the country, also known as Ramadan bazaars.

The Kaamatan festival, also known as Harvest festival, is an annual event in the cultural life of the Kadazandusuns of Sabah since time immemorial. The celebration usually started from 1st of May in kampung (village) and mukim (district) level, while the state level celebration falls on May 30 and May 31 every year.

Corner shop, same row with Hexan Hotel, Kedai Kopi dan Makan Fook Loong offer a variety of local delicacy to the locals. Pastries, noodles and dim sum all available under one roof.

Opposite Hexan Hotel in Kota Marudu, conveniently there are two restaurants which offers halal food for both the locals and hotel guests. For a simple ala-carte meal, we chose to dine-in at Restoran Cahaya Murni.

''When in Rome, do as the Romans do''. While we were at Kota Marudu, apart from visiting the wet market in the morning, we also went for some local food.

During the Kadazan wedding, the newly wedded couple were seated in the centre of the house, with both dressed in Kadazan attire.

Chan Hiong Seafood Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurant in Kota Marudu. Despite of the secluded location, people visited the restaurant mainly for the good food.
