SAUCONY TAKES OVER KUALA LUMPUR RAILWAY STATION FOR ITS FIRST-EVER RELAY RACE IN MALAYSIA

Saucony Malaysia marked a milestone for the local running scene with the Malaysian debut of The Maze, Saucony’s global relay race that brings running clubs together to compete in a fast-paced, team-based race format. For one night only, the race transformed the iconic Kuala Lumpur Railway Station into an experiential venue where running, culture and community came together. Held in collaboration with RAC (Railway Assets Corporation), an agency under the Ministry of Transport that manages and administrates railway assets including heritage buildings such as the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, Malaysia’s first edition of The Maze saw 20 running clubs compete head-to-head, with teams battling through a specially designed relay course across the station to determine one ultimate winning group. Its platforms and passageways became part of the race experience, reimagining the heritage landmark as a new home for running culture and community.

More than a competition, the arrival of The Maze in Malaysia reflects how running continues to grow beyond the traditional race environment. Globally and locally, running communities are increasingly bringing together sport, lifestyle, music and culture, creating new ways for people to connect through movement.

Against the historic backdrop of Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, The Maze brought this evolution to life, marking the first time the heritage landmark played host to a relay race. For one night, the station took on a new identity as runners, supporters and the wider community came together, connecting the city’s past with the energy of its thriving running culture and creating a defining moment for the inaugural The Maze in Malaysia. “The Maze has always taken running beyond the usual race setting and into unexpected spaces. So for Kuala Lumpur, we stayed true to that spirit. For one night only, we have transformed one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic and historic landmarks, Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, into the course for Malaysia’s first-ever The Maze,” said Regine Wong, the Country Head of Saucony Malaysia.

“For the runners, this is a very special occasion. On top of being the first The Maze run in Malaysia, we are truly creating history, as this is also the first time we have opened our doors to have an actual race here in the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station,” shared Yang Mulia Tengku Nadia Azrina Tengku Amran, the Chief Commercial Officer of RAC Malaysia.
