OKONOMI By Tokyo Don at Pavilion Mall

OKONOMI meaning ‘what you like’ or ‘as you like’ in Japanese is an informal restaurant evoking the vibrant atmosphere and casual vibes of downtown Tokyo where teppan (鉄板) specialist and chef Takeshi Wada shows his prowess; serving up his signature specialities to tempt the tastebuds.    The restaurant’s sleek and spartan interior in neutral and earth tones is dominated by a teppan counter ̶ a cooking method in post-World War II Japan which uses a teppan (iron griddle) to grill, broil or pan-fry hence yaki (焼き).  Experienced teppanyaki chefs like Wada-san take great pride in demonstrating their multi-tasking skills, from cutting and pan-frying to culinary knowledge and cordial customer relations. This is my highly recommended NEW MUST TRY Japanese Restaurant that are serving the best TONKATSU in Klang Valley....you never know what you miss out on....try it! Sho Kushiage provide a warm and welcoming dining environment, they ensure their customers get the best service ever with the code of conduct "Service before request". "TONKATSU" originated from Tokyo in the late "Meiji". At the beginning of the both century, an old master sliced the pork shop and fried it the same method like Tempura. It was well accepted and become very popular. Japanese also believe "Tonkatsu" can bring luck if they eat it before sitting for their exam. During exam period "Tonkatsu" always appears in student lunch box which prepare by their mum, as a good luck gesture. Tonkatsu is a delicious and nutritious dish serve with Japanese rice and vegetable.

This cafe serves Japanese fusion food. Famous for their dessert Tofu Cheese Cake which is made from scratch by the chef, a no bake tofu cheese cake dessert made from mixing soft tofu with soy milk which carry a smooth and soft texture due to the used of high quality cream cheese used. Another signature dessert is their cute Water Mochi topped with brown sugar, caramel sauce and sprinkle with roasted soya bean powder.

EARLY SPRING LOBSTER KAISEKI AT ZIPANGU, SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR

Early spring is the season for lobster in Japan, as well as for the iidako octopus. These will be served in a six-course kaiseki dinner at Zipangu, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur from 16 to 31 March. This Early Spring Lobster Kaiseki menu features lobster in three courses, and also includes the vegetables of the season, such as field mustard. Early spring is also the time for sakura or cherry blossoms, and the flavour of these also appears in a dessert.

Taking its name from its parent company, Lotte, it currently has franchises in Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Lotteria's most popular menu items are hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and teriyaki burgers. It invented its other popular item, the shrimp burger, in 1977, which has since been copied by McDonald's and MOS Burger in Japan.
