The sight of a mother turtle – ambling up the beach to ensure that her next generation are safely deposited in warm sand – is one to cherish. As the turtle watching season on Peninsular Malaysia’s East Coast reaches its peak in September, Resorts World Kijal in Terengganu remains one of the best places in Malaysia to spot and appreciate these majestic creatures on their annual return to the shore .

Koh Dach known as ‘Silk Island’ by foreigners, this is actually a pair of islands lying in the Mekong River about 5km northeast of the Japanese Friendship Bridge and is only 15 kilometres from the centre of Phnom Penh. This Mekong River island's main attractions are its beach and its handicrafts community of silk weavers, wood carvers, potters, painters, and jewelry makers. The beach isn't spectacular by Southeast Asian standards, but it is convenient for Phnom Penh getaways.

We were extremely lucky to be invited to a special sneak preview of a family-themed watersport park. However, this is no ordinary park, this is a huge floating barge or pontoon, right smack in the middle of the ocean, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
