Okonomi literally means “as you like it” in Japanese. Okonomi lets you design your own sushi rolls with customisable options, in which customers call the shots every step of the way to get customise sushi exactly to their liking. We can already customize our computer, our car, our coffee - why not our sushi? This customize your sushi concept is aiming for a sweet spot between the ultra-convenience of plastic packaged supermarket sushi and the quality and artistic creativity of high-end sushi restaurants. Making the customer an active participant in customizing offerings is hardly a new idea in Malaysia. More and more people want to have it their way, they want complete expression of individualism and freedom of choice.
