2 and 3 September 2017 welcomed the 2017 FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship to one of the highly prestigious global motorsport circuit, the Thailand Circuit Motorsport Complex, witnessed a significant change to the SuperMoto landscape in Thailand. The Thai community and families across the world flocked to the circuit over the race weekend to see the beginning of another fantastic Asia SuperMoto season with 17 riders from 13 countries competing for standing points and the championship title. While it can be considered as a good omen to steal the opening round trophy, the journey is still far away from the ultimate crown this season.

A historic turn for the FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship as the 2017 race will be streamed live on twenty3.tv for global fans to indulge in an action-packed race between the world’s best SuperMoto riders. Twenty3.tv, an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform innovated by E-Plus Global Sdn Bhd, will stream the race in HD at 11:00AM and 10:00AM (+7:00GMT) on 2 and 3 September 2017 respectively.

Muhd. Habibullah Saleh, more popularly known as “Gabit” rode two masterful races to win his first FIM Supermoto Championship. The weekend had started on a somewhat iffy for Gabit. He had been strong throughout the practice sessions in the precious rounds, having regularly notching the best top-three times, but seemed to lack the pace this weekend, instead, posting the fifth and sixth fastest times and unable to improve beyond 54.100s. But as Gabit proved, the stopwatch is no match for pure determination.

Today marks the final day and the final round of the looming FIM Asia Supermoto Championship 2016 series. The opening ceremony of the grand finale might be the largest ever received, with officiation by Selangor State Executive Councillor for Youth Development Sports, Cultural and Entrepreneurship Development, Y.B. Tuan Amirudin bin Sharil; Mayor of host city Shah Alam, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin bin Mohd Saad; CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Dato’ Zulkefli Hj Sharif; General Manager of Malaysia Major Events, Mr. Tony Nagamaiah; delegates and promoters from three other host countries for the 2016 series.

When it was announced that the 11-time UK Supermoto Champion, Chris Hodgson, will again race in Malaysia, fans looked forward to a master class display of supermoto riding skills. Then when Hodgson’s compatriot, Lewis Cornish confirmed his participation as well, fans knew sparks were going to fly.

With the grand finale of FIM Asia Supermoto Championship 2016 creeping up around the corner, we spoke to the Open International Class and Asian Class scoreboard leader, Muhd Habibullah, or better known as #27 Gabit, on his thoughts about the upcoming race.
