PETALING JAYA, 25th March 2022 - Klang Valley residents are welcome to prepare themselves for authentic Nyonya dishes and indulge in a variety of local delights. Mountain Village Restaurant will be opening its door to serve the public with some traditional and unique Nyonya cuisines located at SS2.

Ardence Labs is the hottest new place to spam your Insta with gorgeous photos, from cool graffiti art to fun #ootd backgrounds and even tons of mouthwatering foodporn. Ardence Labs is located at the beautiful lakefront, it's a lifestyle hub repurposed and house with shipping container within the landscaped gardens of Eco Ardence commercial and residential development in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. Currently there are around 30 containers arranged to form an L-shaped street pattern and another 10 containers stacked on top making an upper level above. Jaya Grocer supermarket is the anchor tenant here which cater perfectly for the residents of Eco Ardence. There are over 20 food outlets and shops operating here, on my visit the restaurants seemed to be doing good business with a mostly young crowds who rated this place Insta-worthy Spots and you'll spot many taking picture, selfie and wefie.

The premises of Old China cafe and gallery is actually the old guild hall of the Selangor and Federal Territory Laundry Association. The guild was set up at the turn of the century and moved to this part of Chinatown in the 1920s. Old China Cafe tries to maintain asemblance of the Chinese community’s old social life which will soon fade into history. Old China Cafe serve food that originates from the Baba Nonya communities of Malacca and Penang which features Malay spices as well as Chinese ingredients and cooking techniques.

Kristang is an ethnic group of people from a mix of Malaccan and Portuguese descent, originated after the conquest of Malacca by the Portuguese in 1511. While there are not many people of this ethnicity around the Klang Valley, I was fortunate to know a lovely person by the name of Alison, who is from the same descent. Her love and passion for food must have run in the family, for Simply Mel’s was born recently – a restaurant that specializes in Malaccan Portuguese cuisine, with her mom Melba as the head chef.

The original Nyonya laksa is enriched with various spices and cooked without curry powder, there are many places in Melaka serving Nyonya laksa, my top pick is Donald and Lily’s. It's in an old house built before World War II, interesting heritage though! A unique dining ambience with an authentic homey character. If you come during weekend lunch hours, please be prepare to wait, there will be a long queue! It has been featured and reviewed by many medias, including 8TV Ho Chak programme.
