In the spirit of Ramadan, Ayam Brand™ hosted #AyamBersamaMu: Berbuka Puasa Bersama Ayam Brand™ 2026, a simple yet meaningful berbuka puasa session with the children and caretakers of Rumah Penyayang Darul Ilmi Gombak. Organised with support from NGO Dignity for Children Foundation under the #AyamBersamaMu initiative, the gathering brought together approximately 55 children and 12 caretakers for an evening centred on sharing a meal, strengthening bonds, and embracing the values of compassion and generosity that define the holy month. As the call to prayer marked the time to break fast, everyone came together over a specially prepared meal enjoyed side by side, a reminder that the month is not only about nourishment, but also about community and gratitude. The evening was kept intentionally simple yet heartfelt, focusing on the joy of eating together and creating a warm, welcoming space for the children. Supporting underserved communities has always been close to Ayam Brand™’s heart. Thr...

As Malaysians prepare for Ramadan and Raya, everyday food moments begin to feel a little more special. A simple spread for Sahur, a light bite after berbuka, a late-night Moreh with family, or a homemade dessert prepared for open house guests. These small rituals quietly shape the season. Malaysians’ favourites The Laughing Cow and Kiri continue to slip naturally into these moments, adding comfort to daily routines and indulgence to festive celebrations. During Ramadan, quick, easy and comforting snacks become a part of our daily routine. The Laughing Cow remains a trusted presence at the table, spread over warm toast for sahur, tucked into wraps for a quick bite for berbuka, or shared on simple snack platters during moreh. After a long fasting day, familiar snacks can be the most comforting, creamy, satisfying bites that make small moments feel a little more enjoyable. Because sometimes, Lagi Cheesy really does mean Lagi Puas. The Laughing Cow continues to be a convenient and comforti...

Introducing NOBO Soy: A New Chapter for Soy Milk. From the makers of OATSIDE, NOBO Soy sets its sights on redefining Asia’s most loved plant milk

Image
Soy milk has long been a part of everyday life in Malaysia. From kopitiams and street-side stalls, to breakfast tables in our own homes, soy milk is familiar, nostalgic and deeply woven into local food culture. Yet, the soy milk category has been declining as young adults are not drinking as much soy milk. Created by the team behind Malaysia’s much-loved oat milk brand OATSIDE, NOBO Soy is here to set a new standard for soy milk for the wellness-focused generation. NOBO Soy Milk has higher protein at 4.2g/100ml, which is almost double of typical packed soy milk and ~40% more than dairy milk, achieved through double-extraction of non-GMO high protein Canadian soybeans. It also has less sugar Benedict Lim, CEO & Founder, OATSIDE said: “We spent a lot of time sourcing the right soybeans and eventually chose non-GMO, high-protein beans from Canada for their nutrition and flavour. From there, it was about developing a process that could pack more soybeans per pack to deliver a creamier...

Guinness is bringing the spirit of Ireland to more than 40 bars and pubs nationwide this St. Patrick’s season, inviting Malaysians to come together over a perfectly poured pint. The celebration kicked off at The Square at Jaya One, where a lively Irish parade of bagpipers and drummers marked the start of a month-long rollout nationwide. For more than 260 years, Guinness has been part of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations around the world. Recognised for its deep ruby body and smooth, creamy head, the stout remains a symbol of heritage, craft and shared moments. This year, participating outlets will feature the “Double the Guinness” experience, inspired by the brand’s iconic two-part pour. With the purchase of a Guinness Draught set, consumers will receive a token to take part in the challenge. Participants who successfully match the look of a perfectly poured pint will receive Guinness Draught in a pint glass, subject to terms and conditions. “Guinness has long been at the heart of St. Pa...

CALIA at PAVILION BUKIT BINTANG

Image
From its imposingly elegant marble-clad doorway to its warm, minimalist interior, Calia at Pavilion KL makes an unforgettable first impression. The restaurant strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort—thanks to its airy, spacious layout and the natural light streaming through tall windows. That sense of ease is elevated by the consistently polite and friendly service, making you feel welcomed from the moment you step in. Renowned for its creative take on modern Japanese cuisine, Calia presents a menu brimming with enticing options. We began our lunch on a refreshing note with two vibrant salads—both elevated by umami-rich toppings that turned simple greens into something memorable. The Softshell Crab Salad with Avocado (RM41) was a delightful contrast of textures: crisp, savoury softshell crab perched atop creamy avocado and fresh greens. The Kale Salad with Bara Bara (RM44) was equally impressive, featuring delicate cubes of fresh fish that added a light, oceanic to...

A Feast for the Senses: A Prosperous Celebration at De.Wan 1958

Image
Stepping into De.Wan 1958, affectionately known as Chef Wan’s Restaurant, is to be immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of grandeur and heritage. Nestled in Bangsar Shopping Centre, the dining hall is a visual masterpiece, where British colonial elegance meets the vibrant, lush hues of Malaysian flora and fauna. It’s a breathtaking prelude to a culinary journey that perfectly encapsulates the Muhibbah spirit of Malaysia. My visit was to experience their special Chinese New Year "Feasts for Prosperity & Happiness," and it was nothing short of a celebratory symphony for the palate. The feast began with the Golden Jade Prosperity Toss (Yee Sang). This was no ordinary lou hei. A vibrant canvas of crisp snow pear, colourful vegetables, and fresh fruits was elevated with delightful Malay touches—crunchy tempe and quail eggs. The trio of sauces, particularly a fragrant, peanutty concoction reminiscent of gado-gado, made the ritual of tossing a uniquely Malaysian affair. It was...
