Cendol & Rojak Stall @ Taman Desa

Image
Eating Cendol and Rojak by the roadside is a much-loved practice in Malaysia. We always know that the best food isn't served at fancy restaurants but at stalls set up by the roadside.

Restoran Leun Fatt @ Taman Desa

Image
We had a sumptuous meal with satisfactory service and pleasant dining ambience at Leun Fatt Restaurant for a once a month friends gathering. Especially delightful were the steamed assam fish, and steamed village chicken. If you're tired of cooking at home and wanted to have something for a change then you should head down to this restaurant. A restaurant that offers a wide array of dishes and the price is very reasonable too.

Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ 大众烧肉 @ Taman Desa

Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ, this place's name in Chinese is called "Public Grill Meat"  located at the back alley of Plaza Faber in Taman Desa, this food stall is managed by Mr.Seiji Fujimoto, who is also the owner of Sanuku Udon in Taman Desa. Owned by a partnership of a local and a Japanese, in this yakiniku restaurant, they serve small dishes of  pork, beef and lamb and the "spare parts" (loin and chuck slices, short ribs, pork belly, offal, liver, beef tongue). Most dishes cost about RM6 onward.

Chee Cheong Fun Van @ Taman Desa

Image
This is my favourite Chee Cheong Fun van at Taman Desa. Nowaday, an increasing number of food vans can be seen in recent years but they are tapping a different clientele. Besides pasar malam, food vans dishing out local delights such as lok-lok (now with the halal version), roasted sweet potatoes and fried noodles like to station themselves near pubs and cafes to catch the supper crowd. Trucks selling cendol and rojak are still extremely popular. One can often see a long line of cars parked along busy roads, just for that refreshing shaved ice and hot crispy fritters. If the crowd does not come to you, it is never a bad idea to go to them. Some restaurants send their vans to office areas dishing out hot food.

Most of the times, I managed to find some good food but certain times, the food turned out just average. Boon Boon Cafe had a good ambiance for youngsters to hangout while having a drink. Food wise, it is quite pricey. Iced Plum Juice, RM4.50 and Ice Honey Lemon, RM4.50 Loh Mee, RM11.90 Loh Mee is one of our family favourite dish. We love the taste of the thick yellow noodle and the egg's gravy. These one, was not bad. Taste was acceptable but nothing great to be shout home about. Fried Yau Mak, RM8.90 Green vegetables is a need to me. The Fried Yau Mak was okay. Ginger Fish Kuey Teow, RM11.90 The Ginger Fish Kuey Teow was loaded with ginger taste. Fragrant. The savoury taste of the gravy goes well with the kuey teow. Total paid for dinner, R...
