Kedai Makanan Teo Chew Porridge Restaurant @ Pudu

Teochew Porridge Restaurant been in the business for ages, opens till the wee hours of the morning. Located at Pudu. Business is always good cause there are clubs nearby and right above the shop is a cheap motel. This is a typical Chinese coffee shop, narrow and with only a few tables but you allow to sit at the table at the neighboring coffee shop. Porridge here are watery Teochew porridge and steamed rice also available, with a variety of side dishes to choose from, mostly are braised meats and pickled vegetable which are laid out in trays near the entrance . We were spoil with choices! There were many varieties of dishes from curries, to braised pork, to fried salted fish, im estimating easily 40 over types. Overall, we had a satisfying meal and the side dishes definitely complement the watery porridge, I like their porridge because it was not too heavy for supper.

Braised Pork Intestine
The Braised Pork Intestine is a popular dish when having Two Chew Porridge. Its has a nice flavouring while infused with delicious herbs and spices, making it tasted really good when pairing with plain porridge.
Steamed Minced Pork with Tung Choi
I just love this homey dish, Steamed Minced Pork with Tung Choi. It was a tad salty on its own but tasted really good with porridge.
Braised Beancurd
Braised Beancurd is another famous dish. As both the pork and beancurd shared the same braised sauce, it has a similar great taste.
Vegetables
Dace Fish with Salted Black Bean
Although the Dace Fish with Salted Black Bean is from the can, it is an all-time-favourite dish while having Teo Chew Porridge. Its saltiness will be diluted by the porridge, hence, complementing each other really well.
Preserved Choy Sum
Double-boiled Old Cucumber Soup
During hot and stuffy weather, I always like to have a bowl of Old Cucumber Soup as it helps eliminate body 'heat' and is diuretic.
Total paid, RM29.80
