Cafe Barbera @ Sunway Pyramid

I was invited, along with a number of other bloggers for a food review of the new Cafe Barbera @ Sunway Pyramid. This was an event organised by Mr Deric Lee from Cafe Barbera (Sea) Sdn. Bhd. and fellow blogger, Shannon Chow (shannonchow.com). I am of course delighted and grateful to have been invited for a food review of such a prestigious brand.

Café Barbera has more than 140 years of reputation in coffee perfection. It is a family business originating from South Italy. The unique concept of Cafe Barbera is based on it's selection of exceptional coffees in Italy, current food trends and a consumer demand for a fresher, tastier, lighter and healthier menu while providing a venue to relax in. It gives its guests a warm and inviting yet elegant dining experience. Along with the highest quality of freshly roasted coffee products, it offers a variety of food items such as inhouse baked pastries, handmade shakes, juices, a large array of freshly made soups and salads, sandwiches on Ciabatta breads, pizzas, pastas, main course meals and desserts.

BARBERA: THE COFFEE LEGEND
Brief history of the Barbera Coffee:
Barbera coffee originated from Messina Italy, 1870. The founder, Domenico Barbera, is nicknamed the Magician for his extraordinary talent in creating great coffee taste and aroma. Upon his death, his son Antonio carried on the family’s legacy and continued to expand the business all over Sicily and Calabria. The coffee chain can be found in more than 30 countries across five continents. The recipe is currently with the fifth (5th) generation member of the family, Dr. Enrico Barbera. He decided to bring his family’s coffee brand to the international market by starting the coffee chain across the globe. Nowadays, Barbera the coffee magician, a joint-stock company since 1978, distributes its products all over the world and boasts of several certificates and premiums. But surely the most important award is the unconditional approval of its customers.

Barbera Coffee is more than just coffee. On its own, it creates the harmony of taste and aroma. Its distinct quality is due to the meticulous source selection of the beans, their roasting and blending art, all carried out within the frame of an advanced research technology; the innovation and the careful processing are the basic to the company, which is always aiming for the best.

Café Barbera also offers more than 20 types of coffees, blended from the best coffee beans imported from Brazil, Central America and Indonesia. To optimize the quality of its blends, Barbera sources the coffee directly; “Arabica”, which encapsulates the most delicate fragrances, and the “Robusta” for strength and body of the espresso brew. The meticulous roasting is fundamental for the best result of such a delicate product. Each different type of bean is singularly roasted to its best. A prolonged or hasty roasting and a bad-cooling process could compromise irreparably the more intimate olfactory and organoleptic characteristics of the coffee. The packaging technology adopted by Barbera to preserve its blend contributes to its exalted flavor and freshness so appreciated by espresso lovers.

The Concept:
The unique concept of Café Barbera is based on its exceptional blend of coffee products, current food trends, and consumer demands for fresher, tastier, lighter and healthier fare. The Café Barbera concept has reemerged as a leader in the hospitality industry, since it provides a venue to relax and savour fresh beverages and food items, efficient service, soft café seating and quite simply the best available coffee in the world. Product and Services Our products are well accepted by nutrition conscious and discriminating people due to its premium quality, freshness and the use of natural ingredients. It also offers in-house baked pastries, sandwiches, soup, salad, pizza and pasta which you can enjoy in a cozy and relaxed environment with an excellent service.

Café Barbera (SEA) Sdn Bhd's Café Barbera Sunway Pyramid will be the third outlet in Malaysia which was soft launched on 5th November 2011. The first Café Barbera Bangsar located at No. 18, Lorong Maarof, Bangsar Park, 59000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, opened for business on 24th December 2009. It operates daily from 8.30am to 11.00pm. The second Café Barbera outlet was opened in KLIA, 6th January 2011 with another 7 outlets in the coming years. Yg. Bhg. Datuk Ibrahim Hj. Ahmad Badawi (the founder of Brahim’s Food) is granted the exclusive rights for Café Management, Franchise and Distribution for Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Training
Café Barbera's success is built on the CB system on its people and the uniformity of its operations. The company has designated training as a top priority, making major commitments of time and resources to it. Franchisees will be trained by Café Barbera in the areas of store operations, baking, merchandising, and accounting procedures. Periodic visits by trained staff are also a benefit of the Café Barbera system. Although new in the South East Asian market, Café Barbera proved to be a success in the Middle East home of Turkish and Arabic coffees. Coffee lovers are now more discriminating in their taste and look for experiences and flavor profiles beyond instant coffee beverages and mixes. Café Barbera’s top blend of gourmet coffee provides that unique taste and flavor experience coffee connoisseurs truly enjoy. The time for Gourmet Coffee has arrived in Malaysia.

For all coffee lovers, this is a must try given its exceptional and long history!
