Louis Shim and Eannes Chop are the founder of My Honeymoon Dessert, a husband and wife team who share a mutual love for desserts. This loving couple traveled to Hong Kong to celebrate their honeymoon while looking for the best dessert creations to satisfy their sweet cravings. They’ve visited almost all the dessert restaurants in Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territory, but are especially fond of one such restaurant in particular; Chung Kee Dessert Restaurant in Sam Sui Po. In fact, they were so fond of this restaurant that they decided to transfer the entire concept to Malaysia, allowing Malaysians to enjoy exquisite Hong Kong style desserts. As if to add sweetness to the whole affair, their brand new dessert place opened for business on Valentine’s Day, 2009, bringing sweet memories and pleasurable moments to customers by making every day seem like a honeymoon.
My Honeymoon Dessert mission is to provide authentic, high quality culinary creations for discerning customers. In order to do this, the owners spare no expense in getting quality raw materials and ingredients. For instance, black sesame, mangoes, sago, purple rice and quality milk are imported from Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand and New Zealand respectively. And even if the materials are sourced from local suppliers, only the top quality ones are chosen, as in the case of ginger, which is brought in from Bentong, and durians, of which only the best grades are used. The desserts with juicy and rich Philippines, Luzon Mangos are a favourite amongst customers, and a must-try for every visitor.
While My Honeymoon is certainly dedicated to creating warmth and sweetness, it is also mindful of the health of customers. All desserts are low in sugar, and prepared using pure ingredients with minimal additives such as corn flour. This is to ensure that not only is every sip of dessert original in taste, but great for one’s well-being as well. Speaking of well-being, desserts at My Honeymoon are also created to bring about health and beauty benefits. These benefits spring from the natural ingredients used; mango, for instance, promotes good digestion, prevents nausea and relieves fever, while pomelo is known to lower blood glucose and reduce phlegm production. Almonds nourish the lungs, alleviate coughing, soothe the intestines and promote healthy skin; black sesame, on the other hand, darkens hair and is believed to improve vision. Ginger has powerful detoxifying capabilities, preventing colds and alleviating wind; purple rice provides nutrition for the blood; and walnuts stimulate the brain. So desserts are no longer bad for you!
All the delicious creations would not be possible without an experienced chef and a skillful team of gourmet experts. Only the freshest and handpicked ingredients go into the preparation of My Honeymoon desserts. Each dessert is quality-checked before being served at the table. My Honeymoon Dessert Restaurant invests heavily in training, ensuring that all its personnel are professionally trained in Hong Kong. Master Chefs from Hong Kong are also regularly invited to the restaurant to monitor the quality of its output, ensuring that consistency in quality and only the best preparations are served to customers. So for authentic desserts that create sweet, pleasurable memories, why not drop by and try it today!
