Penang Kueh Tiao has made its presence felt here in KK. It makes our quest for the search for a perfect plate a daunting one. Today, our search has (drumroll please...) well, not stopped since we have not found that elusive, climax inducing kueh tiao.
Its not that bad, its just not, well, good. All meat ingredients used, save for the cockels, were not fresh. What's nice is that it has a little hint of sweetness to it, to complement a spicy, savoury dish. But at RM6.00, it could be a fulfilling snack, but not a complete meal on its own. Overall, its probably not worth to drive all the way from Luyang to have a taste of this, but if you are working in the vicinity, and have the "penang urge", then this is still a good place to have kueh tiao

Next, comes the Pan Mian. I don't exactly know how it derives its name, and to be honest, it is bugging me a bit (the not knowing the origin of the name) maybe readers can enlighten us on this matter.
Anyway, this is a halal version of pan mian, so its safe for consumption for our muslim and friends. The noodle itself taste very Italian-like pasta, which is a good thing. It has the thickness that gives the right balance of chewiness, yet bouncy at the same time. The deep fried dumpling is crunchy while the chicken itself is soft and tender, although I do suspect the use of meat tenderizer (but its not a bad thing). The mushroom, and anchovies give the broth a good savoury flavour with just the right hint of sweetness. However, vege lovers will be sad to know that the beloved sayur manis is scarcely scattered all over the bowl. You will be hard pressed to find the elusive green, despite creating a tiny storm in your big bowl of noodle (from stirring your meal, of course). Overall, it's a pretty decent meal, but the lack of vege is the killer that denies this a 4star rating.
