Wedding Dinner @ Grand Ballroom Pasific Sutera Hotel

On 12th December 2010, it was a day when Steven and Ellie tied the knot. Both of them were Jack's church member in KK and KL respectively. Jack was honoured to be the emcee for the wedding dinner on that night.

While we were early, before the bride and groom arrived, we waited for the registration of attendance at the lounge.

Four Hot and Cold Combination
It consisted of Vegetarian Ham with French Bean Salad, Roasted Chicken with Thai Chili Sauce, Stir-fry Sliced Venision with Dried Chili and Cashew Nut and Deep Fried Chicken and Salted Egg Wrappers with Beancurd Skin. Overall, the dish tasted not bad. The Roasted Chicken with Thai Chili Sauce was sourish and spicy, appetizingly good. The Deep Fried Chicken and Salted Egg wrapped with beancurd skin was crispy and flavourful.

It was followed by the Cultural Dance. First dance of the night was the traditional Chinese dance.

Sweet Corn Soup with Minced Chicken
I'm not a fan of Corn Soup and in fact, I hated Corn Soup. However, these Sweet Corn Soup with Minced Chicken's taste was acceptable. Honestly, it was delicious. Fresh corn was used instead of the can food. The soup was savoury with a hint of sweetness.

As I'm still learning with my new gadget, the first few photo's colour was reddish. Fortunately, I managed to play with the function of my camera and improved the quality of the photos.

Crispy Roasted Chicken with Sesame Sauce
Although it was named as Crispy Roasted Chicken, the chicken was not crispy. The chicken on its own, tasted a little bit too salty but the saltiness could be neutralized by the sweet Sesame Sauce.

Next, it was the Indian Dance Performance. Magnificent costumes with great dance moves.

Steamed Coral Trout with Onion and Ginger
The best way to cooked fresh fish was to steamed it with minimum seasoning. I love the Steamed Fish with Onion and Ginger. It brought out the freshness and succulent taste of the fish while eliminating the fishy smell. Delicious.

Sliced Beef with Dried Chili, Onion and Capsicum
The beef was flavourful and tender. However, it could be a little bit too spicy for the kids. Overall, it was not bad.

In the middle of the dinner, there was a surprise brought by the Muruts. Came in from the main entrance, wearing the traditional costume, the group of Muruts spread out to the guests, shouting and scaring.

Finally, the Cultural Dance Perfomance was ended with the Magunatip Dance. This dance belongs to the Murut’s tribe of Kuhijaw (Kwijau). The "Magunatip" word is derived from the "apit" word, which means "trapped". In this dance one must master and show their agility and dexterity in jumping and putting their feet between the clapping bamboos without being trapped. It does not require any instrumental music because the rhythmic clapping and stamping of the bamboos produce a loud, harmonised, beat and interesting sound or rhythm. It was the highlight of the night.

Stir-Fried Broccoli with Gluten Puff and Mushroom
Finally, my favourite vegetables dish was served. It was just nice. Broccoli wasn't over-cooked and goes well with the gravy.

Thai Style Pineapple Fried Rice
The Fried Rice was pretty average. If it wasn't written in the Menu, I may have thought it was an ordinary fried rice which used pineapple chunks.

The groom and some of his guests were invited to the stage for the participation in jumping between the clapping bamboos without being trapped.

The dancer was then, blind-folded and jumped between the clapping bamboos in a really fast pace. Truly amusing!

Double Boiled Lily Bulb, Lotus Seed with Snow Fungus and Tong Yuen
The dinner was ended up with some dessert. Sweet soup with Tong Yuen which also symbolized sweet reunion following the Chinese tradition.

Sweetened Filo Durian Rolls, Deep Fried Glutinous Rice Ball with Sesame Seed
I must say that the Sweetened Filo Durian Rolls was tasty. Although I'm allergic to Durian, I couldn't help but to have a bite on it. Creamy and incredibly rich durian's filling with crispy skin.

Being the emcee of the night, Jack took the opportunity to fool around with the bride and groom. The groom was requested to peel an apple while answering some questions. Then, both the bride and the groom were requested to eat the apple which was left tangling in between them.
