The Table : An Exquisite Taste of Japan

Ever since it's opening this year on the 17th February 2017, the Table has been delighting fans of Japanese Cuisine at Isetan : The Japan Store here in Lot 10. I have not had the pleasure of attending it's opening ceremony, but there have been plenty of mixed reviews since then. My expectations were definitely aroused when I received the invitation to this event put together by Kirin Ichiban of Japan in collaboration with the Table, Isetan Lot 10.

Business Hours 11am - 3.00pm, 6.00pm - 11pm Daily (Last Dinner order at 10pm)

The Table can be found on the 4th floor of Isetan, Lot 10. It is pretty easy to find, and Lot 10's location in the very heart of Kuala Lumpur made it easier to travel. The place is accesible by lift and elevator, and as soon as you reach the place you will be struck by the cultural feel of the place. They have gone to great lengths to try and bring a pseudo-cultural experience of dining in Japan to Malaysia.

Collectively, the Japanese restaurants at the Table represents Washoku Japanese cuisine or Japanese Food. There are six restaurants here; the Tokyo Restaurant, Tonkatsu Anzu, Sushi Azabu, Toriden, Yakiniku Toraji, Yakitori Robata-Yaki Touan. All these are renowned for their strict adherence to maintaining an authentic Japanese dining experience. And as expected, they use only the best premium quality ingredients for their culinary creations. For this food adventure, the Table worked together with Kirin Ichiban to pair some of their best foods with the famed beer-maker in an exclusive dinner event. On top of freeflow of beers, there were also opportunities to dress up in the traditional Japanese costumes, obtaining customized Japanese Calligraphy of your names as well as watching cultural performances.

“Aimed at bringing Japan’s winter moments to life, this menu was curated to complement the pure, smooth and rich flavours of Kirin Ichiban. An exquisite culinary experience was brought up a notch, collaborating with The Table in creating a great ambience, using quality ingredients, by culinary experts to bring the best immersion for those who enjoy the finer things in life,” says Loh Ee Lin, Marketing Manager of Kirin Ichiban.

DID YOU KNOW? A premium beer authentically crafted in Japan using 100% malt, Kirin Ichiban’s unique taste offers a smooth and rich flavour as a result from its innovative “First Press” brewing method. “First Press” is a unique technique, where only the first press of the malt liquid is used, exuding a pure, crisp taste with no bitter aftertaste. Kirin Ichiban manifests the authentic tastes of Japanese beer crafted to appeal to the palate, and it pairs elegantly with Japanese cuisines.

The foods offered by the Table for that evening to be paired with Kirin Ichiban beers was exquisite. I had much fun whetting my appetite in between servings with pints of the excellent beer, and of course the experience of grilling my own wagyu at Toraji was the best part of the evening.
