Staying Connected Onboard the Costa Victoria
So imagine this; you and your friends have booked a cruise trip onboard the Costa Victoria with Hwajing Travel and Tours. You are all sequestered away in separate rooms during resting hours, but of course have agreed to meet-up for some group activities and meal times. But the thing is the ship is far out at sea, your phones work but without service and data connection. What do you do?
The folks at Costa figured that out, you could install their app called My Costa Mobile and stay connected using the ship's Wi-Fi service. And it's FREE.

The app is free for you to install from Google Play or the Apple App Store. This app is easy to use, and the interface and features easy to navigate without help. It works by allowing your phone to connect to the ship's Wi-Fi network, but you'll need to have the Wi-Fi feature enabled on your phone. Your family and friends will need to have this app installed as well, so that you can connect to each other.
With the app installed, the next step is to register yourself into the network, and then start looking for members of your group in the Wi-Fi network. You will need to send requests from each other and accept, otherwise the app will not allow you to communicate with each other. This ensures privacy, you cannot just start adding strangers and expect a reply without their mutual consent!
Once the app is installed and you have added each other in the network, you can start calling each other to talk or just message each other like in a chat. the only downside to this app is tat it does not allow the establishing of group chats.
The app also has other cool features. You can check out the weather, figure out the location of the ship while at sea. You can also contact staff member onboard the ship for Guest services and to book off-shore excursions. Now that's plain NIFTY.
So if you ever find yourself on-board any of the Costa Cruises, do not forget to install this app on your phone prior to going on the trip! If you would like to see more (as in hundreds) pictures of my cruise trip, head over and have a gander at my FB album here.
