Welcoming the year of the Rabbit with a happy Chinese New Year reunion feast at Hakka Rang Restaurant

Chinese New Year reunion dinner, this annual affair often comes with the expectation of a whole feast at the table, but we are not the one that will slave over the stoves at home, defininitely a no no with our new outfits. To make things simpler this year, I recommend ordering a set menu from our favourite Hakka Rang restaurants in PJ.

Hakka Rang sumptuous menus dole out some of the exquisite and premium ingredients during this festive, dishes, which is believed to bring good luck for the coming year so you can be sure it’ll be a night out with family to remember.

Every Chinese New Year our Top 1 must-order prosperity dish is Japanese-Inspired Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Yee Sang, which is indispensable and highly popular. Hakka Rang Restaurant is specially curated in 2 types of Yee Sang which is Chuka Wakame (Seaweed-Vegan) and Chuka Kurage (Jelly Fish) to tailor everyone's needs.

This is a must have Yee Sang on our dining table cause this healthy version of Yee Sang is made from 100% fresh vegetables and fruits, is not greasy at all and most importantly it also contain our favourite "Mi Cheng" (rice crackers) a traditional snacks originate from Titi, Jelebu. This mild sweetened rice cracker is so aromatic and crunchy, perfectly bonded with the Yee Sang.

Let me show you their 2023 Chinese New Year full menu, dishes with a symbolic auspicious meaning that I have tasted with my friends.
Yam abacus or yam gnocchi, this an auspicious and savoury dish that is popularly served during the lunar new year as the ROUND yam abacus represent reunion and signifies wealth and prosperity. It is made of yam and tapioca flour. When cooked, these yam abacus seeds are soft on the outside, chewy on the inside and full of strong yam aroma.
Stir Fried Leek with Roast Pork. Leeks in mandarin also means counting, insinuating that there's alot of money for you to count. Therefore, leeks is a very popular dish especially during chinese new year. The more you eat, the more money you will have to count in the new year.

Dongpo Pork served with Mantou implies the beginning of a rich and beautiful year. The prolonged stewing breaks down the fat to make the braised pork belly flavorsome, succulent and give it the tender “melt-in-the-mouth” texture. It is so tender that it can easily be separated into small pieces with chopsticks

Stuffed Dried Oyster with Black Moss symbolizes getting rich and making a fortune. This is a traditional dish that is eaten almost exclusively during Chinese New Year.

Stir Fried Lotus Root with Prawns which means "every year you have plenty", auspicious year by year.
Sesame Prawns represents 'liveliness', as well as 'happiness' and 'good fortune'. Prawns are also a huge staple in Chinese New Year meals because its pronunciation in Cantonese (har) echoes the sound of ringing laughter. “According to tradition, when you eat it, you will be filled with happiness and laugh 'har har. ' The more you eat, the happier your family will be in the new year.”

Steam Orange Roughy with Homemade Sauce symbolizes ‘May you always have more than you need, good health and longevity’, which expresses the hope that the year will start and finish with surplus. A whole fish is a staple for New Year celebration, and is intended to welcome prosperity for the entire year. You will definitely love this steamed fish with their house special sauce.
