Peserta Viper Challenge Berjaya Redah Shah Alam!
Lebih 10,000 peserta yang membanjiri Stadium Shah Alam berjaya mengatasi cabaran biarpun terpaksa menempuh beberapa halangan baru yang lebih unik serta mencabar dalam siri larian berhalangan Viper Challenge, Great Eastern Viper Arena 2017, Sabtu lepas. Diadakan buat tahun kedua berturut-turut di stadium kebanggaan Selangor itu, siri yang menguji ketahanan mental dan fizikal peserta diadakan pada sebelah malam. Sebelum ini, beberapa lokasi telah dijelajahi oleh Viper Challenge iaitu di Pulau Pinang, Johor, dan Genting Highlands.
Biarpun para peserta juga terpaksa meredah halangan dalam keadaan hujan, namun ia langsung tidak mematahkan semangat mereka yang bekerjasama melepasi halangan pada hari tersebut. Kumpulan peserta pertama dilepaskan pada pukul 6 petang, diikuti kumpulan berikutnya selang 30minit kemudian sehinggalah kelompok terakhir pada 3.30 pagi.
Menteri Besar Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali hadir melepaskan peserta kira-kira pada pukul 9 malam. Beliau diiringi oleh Exco Pelancongan, Hal Ehwal Pengguna dan Alam Sekitar Selangor, YB Elizabeth Wong, Pengurus Besar Tourism Selangor, Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din serta wakil daripada Great Eastern Life Assurance Berhad.
Walaupun menjadi tetamu kehormat, Azmin ternyata ingin mencuba beberapa halangan yang disediakan kerana beliau sendiri teruja melihat struktur halangan dalam siri Viper Challenge ini. Beliau sempat mencuba salah satu halangan yang disediakan pada hari tersebut.
Azmin turut mengalu-alukan untuk memasukkan Cabaran Viper dalam kalendar pelancongan tahunan negeri kerana beliau berpendapat acara ini bukan sahaja memberi manfaat kepada sektor pelancongan negara tetapi juga menyokong gaya hidup sihat di kalangan masyarakat.
Dengan memperkenalkan 6 halangan baru (Groin Splitter, Rope Crossing, Traverse Ladder, Suffering Ring, Flying Monkey dan Reach Around), para peserta terpaksa mengatasi semua 15 halangan dalam jarak 7km sebelum melintasi garisan penamat untuk mendapatkan pingat finisher dan kemeja-t khas.
Selain Viper Challenge, para pengunjung yang hadir pada hari itu turut disajikan dengan persembahan bunga api. Gerai Great Eastern LIVE GREAT juga menawarkan cetakan foto secara percuma dan pengunjung berpeluang untuk memenangi kad hadiah Starbucks di LIVE GREAT Fitness Challenge. Di samping itu, trak jualan makanan turut berada di lokasi.
“Stadium Shah Alam memberikan satu keseronokan dan cabaran seperti yang kita tahu, semua peserta telah melalui halangan pada waktu gelap. Viper Challenge menjanjikan kerjasama, disiplin, dan empati seiring dengan slogannya “Jangan Tinggalkan Sesiapa Di Belakang,” kata Selva Kumar, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Original Bootcamp Sdn Bhd.
Viper Challenge yang mendapat sambutan lebih 120,000 peserta tempatan dan antarabangsa sejak ianya dianjurkan pada tahun 2013 adalah disokong oleh Malaysia Major Events, satu bahagian dalam Biro Pameran dan Konvensyen Malaysia (MyCEB), sebuah agensi di bawah Kementerian Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Malaysia (MOTAC).
Salah seorang peserta, Kavin Raj, 32, yang bekerja sebagai kerani pentadbir berkata dia seronok dapat mengambil bahagian dalam siri Viper Challenge di Shah Alam buat tahun kedua berturut-turut.
“Seronok dapat melihat Viper Challenge terus menyajikan pelbagai cabaran baru termasuklah beberapa halangan yang mencabar dan menyeronokkan. Saya harap akan dapat mengambil bahagian lagi pada tahun depan untuk mencuba halangan lain yang unik,” kata Kavin.
Seorang lagi peserta, Loh Yoke Seen pula memuji Viper Challenge yang baginya bukan sahaja menguji kekuatan mental dan fizikal tetapi mengeratkan hubungan antara peserta.
“Ya, ini adalah kali pertama saya menyertai Viper Challenge dan saya sangat gembira dapat melaluinya bersama rakan-rakan. Tanpa bantuan mereka, saya pasti tidak dapat menghabiskan cabaran ini. Secara keseluruhan, ianya satu pengalaman menarik dan begitu berbaloi dapat mengambil bahagian,” kata pegawai akaun berusia 23 tahun itu.
Great Eastern Viper Challenge 2017 dibawakan oleh Great Eastern Life sebagai sebahagian daripada Program LIVE GREAT mereka, iaitu program kesihatan bersepadu yang pertama oleh syarikat insurans di rantau ini.
Selepas berakhir di Shah Alam, para peminat Viper Challenge berpeluang mengambil bahagian dalam acara final siri larian berhalangan ini yang dijadualkan berlangsung di Cyberjaya pada Disember nanti.
