Cruising Aboard the Superstar Libra!
I will be the first to tell you, as a confirmed landlubber, I have never been on a luxury cruise liner before. Barring a fishing day-trip off Port Klang, I have steadfastly avoided making any voyage out to open sea over the years because of my inability to swim. I was raised on a farm, so open plains and mountains have always been more to my liking compared to large bodies of water.
Nobody was therefore more surprised than I was when I said, "Yes, I will come", when the invitation came in. And imagine the surprise of my friends who saw my updates on Social Media! Well, a lot of you asked, and so here is my overview write-up for the trip.KL (HQ) : 03-9200 2929 (Phone)

At first, I was confused as heck. I could pack for any trip in under 30 minutes but what do you bring on a ship? I decided I needed to draw up a list of stuff I might need and after 15 mins, I came up with this.
Not very helpful I know. So I approached representatives of Hwajing Travel and Tours and they helpfully provided me with the following packing suggestions:- Original MyCard (IC)
- Original Passport
- International Socket Adapter
- Handphone Charger
- Medicine (Seasick Pills for me! and others if required)
- Sun Block & Lotion
- Sunglasses
- Umbrella or Hat/Cap
- Tumbler
- Thai Baht (it is advised to exchange currency before onboard the ship)
- Shorts, t-shirt, slacks, trousers, casual skirts, blouses, sundresses for the duration of the trip
- Bathing suit & a pair of casual shoes / sandals (for the pool)
- Sport shoes (Fitness center)
I met up with my fellow blogging friends at the Boustead Cruise Centre, and after waiting and clearing the immigration check point, embarked unto the Superstar Libra!
We were greeted by crew members of the ship itself, and they even performed a welcoming dance for us. Of course, then we came to the checkpoint to board the ship itself and passed through their security clearance.
Once we had cleared these, we entered the Reception area of the ship itself, which they also call the Crystal deck. There were guests like us checking in, and it resembled the lobby of a hotel. There were even people singing! The only thing missing were the Hawaiians with the ever-present garland of flowers.
We gazed around in wonder. There was a lot to take in, the ambience was amazing. They had duty-free shops, booths, restaurants and in case you missed it, a dramatic view of the port and in the days after, the endless sea.
After enjoying the ambience, we collected our keys and proceeded to check in to our cabins, the Deluxe Oceanview Cabins. The Superstar Libra have a few kinds of cabins available, you can find more about it here. I had the privilege to tour the ship later and had a look at their Executive Suite.
After we had settled down, we were invited to the EXCLUSIVE Hwajing Royal High Tea. It was a delightful way to start the cruise experience, for many of us were first timers. You can read more about my experiences of it here.
A major area of concern for most persons going on a cruise ship is safety. Things were never quite the same after the launching of the movie, The Titanic, lol. But they take everybody's safety seriously, and to reinforce that point we had to take a Safety Drill.
After that, it was a leisurely trip. I had quite a lot of fun and memorable times onboard the Superstar Libra, and to re-count it here in detail would spoil the surprise for future holidaymakers. But suffice to say, I had time to eat some great foods at their restaurants, spent endless hours in the Jacuzzi and swimming pool, toured the command bridge of the ship and their gallery, shopped for duty-free items and when we landed ashore, explored both Phuket and Penang. I will let my pictures speak for themselves, here are some highlights of the trip.
I visited the Command Bridge~
There were still a lot more to do on the ship, and I did not have enough time to visit and try each and every one of them. When I look back, the Superstar Libra was akin to living on a floating Resort Hotel. I think I would like to do it again. If you want to see more pictures from my trip, you can check out my FB album here. If you think you are ready for the a cruise experience of a lifetime, why not book your trip here.
Thank you for reading, and many thanx to Hwajing Tour and Travels for having me aboard the Superstar Libra. Until the next adventure, Adios Amigos! ~ Marv.7
