Promenade Cafe @ Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu

We are here this evening at Promenade Hotel’s Promenade Café, to try out their star specialty: Seafood Buffet. And you can have it many ways too, be it grilled, fried, boiled and baked. They also serve up a nice variety of menu, from fresh salads, local favorites, their signature whole roasted lamb, international cuisine and myriad of cakes and desserts. At a reasonable price of RM95 Nett for weekends and RM85 Nett of weeknights, its practically a steal by these days’ standards.

Their variety of local salads and fresh greens gives a nice crunch and refreshes the palate, to ignite your appetite. Just next to the salad bar is an eye catching mount of cold shrimp and mussels. Sweet and succulent shrimp and firm mussels are so good that you’d be tempted to just focus on it. But it would be a waste with so many other food to taste. So save lots of room in your tummy.

Their local food such as green curry chicken, and beef and chicken satay is filled with just enough spice to give it a kick, you get hit with a ton of flavors yet so simple at the same time.

The roast whole lamb that Promenade Cafe serves certainly holds itself high up among other famous ones in town. The throng of customers that make a beeline is testament to this. Some say their main aim coming to Promenade Café’s buffet dinner has been their roast lamb. The lamb is so tender and has a nice bite to it, with an almost delicate texture.

While you’re queuing up for your roast lamb, make a stopover at the grill section, where your dishes are made to order, so much to choose from, with marinated steaks, lamb chops, sausages, huge tiger prawns, squids, and fish. The freshness of the ingredients is complemented with great spice and well balanced taste.

The huge tiger prawn is so meaty, sweet with a great velvety texture. Pair that with their crayfish, which is cooked with a little bit of salty, little sweet and a whole lot of flavor and aroma. It has so many distinct flavor but they all blend so well, it is certainly a whole new seafood culinary experience.
Now its time to move over to the desserts, with so many cakes, each so flavorful, colorful and unique to choose from you’d be spoilt for choices.
