Warung Babi Guling Sari Dewi Bp. Dobiel @ Nusa Dua
Babi Guling is a significant food that ones must try when visiting Bali. Although the Babi Guling at Pak Dobiel was claimed as a far cry from the best by our Balinese's driver, it is the version that has won out hearts.
Jl. Srikandi No. 9, Nusa Dua
A single serving of Babi Guling Rice with Soup Rp35,000
Babi Guling consists of lovely spit roasted pork cooked for hours over charcoal before being chopped up and serve on a bed of rice with spicy sambal, the tastiest fried long beans and seasoned condiments. The pork here was really nice. It was tender and well-seasoned. More importantly, it wasn't gamey at all. The crackling was crunchy, lardy and all the good things you want from the skin. Each shard was joy to chew and the meat was substantially tender. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of pork, not especially a fan of suckling pig, but this dish is a dish that I felt that I couldn't have enough of it.
Jukut Ares is a type of soup prepared using young banana stem and ribs. It was savoury and slightly spicy in taste. For tourists like us, it was something not to be missed as it tasted pretty delicious.
