If you are a Daily Express newspaper's reader, you may have come across the advertisement of Soul Out Restaurant's Hi-Tea. No doubt, the most eyes catching word was the cheap price offer, ones might also be wondering about the food selection available. Due to our curiosity, we decided to unsolved the mystery.
There are only
10 dishes offered as
main course including your daily starch staple. After my second dish i find myself nowhere else to turn to, as I have already covered every nook and corner of the restaurant. It does serve up some good and tasty dishes but the calamary felt a bit stale has a wee bit of deep sea pong. The
beef rendang is too much on the salty side to my liking. Although bearing in mind that the menu probably does change from time to time. They have also pushed the envelop too far by serving chinese style beefball in a tomato based
spaghetti (supermarket made and borderline soggy, mind you), which will confuse the staunch foodie as either being a culinary fusion genius, or a poorly managed kitchen inventory.
What came as a delightful surprise was that its a
make-your-own burger, although the burger patties were supermarket bought instead of chef's hand made, but a good concept nonetheless.

There are only but a hand full of entree and
dessert selection, although they do try to make it up by offering something "out of the box" like
luk-luk and
bakso corner. You may not get the kind of food selection as, say, the Hyatt or Promenade, but its still all you can eat nonetheless.
This is a very "family friendly" setting whereby there is a special section just for the kids complete with kiddie menu and low table which makes it accessible for the short people (children, I mean). The kiddie dishes consists of nuggets, wedges, fried chicken, spaghetti, hotdog in a bun, and ice-cream. You can satisfy your inner child by picking food from the kiddie section as they have no restrictions, although it has to be said that most of the kiddie meal are supermarket bought.

But i guess one should not expect much considering you only need to fork out RM26 for adult and RM13 for kids while tots below 5 eat for free. If you are searching for gourmet meal, this may not be the place for you. While the ambiance does reflect a rather up-market dining the food selection screams otherwise with its supermarket bought processed food (their chocolate cake reeks with hershey's chocolate syrup). But this is not necessarily a bad thing, as you can always offset the sparse selection with vast quantity shoved down your belly.
Sadly, overall if price ignored, it is a half effort of market penetration meets climbing up the rating scenario. It is neither here nor there, with a playfull and fun family menu placed in a fine dining (wannabe) setting.
