A Flavourful Journey: Savor of Life in Desa Sri Hartamas

Tucked away in the bustling heart of Desa Sri Hartamas, Savor of Life offers a delightful escape for anyone seeking plant-based dining that doesn't compromise on taste or creativity. Having transitioned from a home-delivery service to a physical outlet, this vegetarian restaurant impresses with its cozy ambience and friendly service, presenting plant-based foods with almost fine-dining presentation . On my recent visit, I had the chance to sample a variety of their signature dishes, and here is how they fared.

We started our meal with two of their most intriguing starters. The dumplings were a masterclass in texture. The wrapper was perfectly thin and delicate, giving way to a savoury, finely minced vegetarian filling that was both hearty and satisfying. It was a humble dish, executed with precision, proving that vegan dim sum can be just as comforting as the original.

Equally impressive was the Linopot D‘Odu. For the uninitiated, this is a traditional Kadazan-Dusun dish, and Savor of Life presents a vegan rendition with respect and flair. A unique dish that celebrates Borneo heritage while fitting perfectly into the modern vegan palate.

Moving on to the mains, the Swiss-Garden Buttermilk Pasta was a revelation. Vegan "buttermilk" sauces made with cashew nuts - this version was light, creamy, and beautifully aromatic. It coated every strand of pasta perfectly. It was rich without being cloying—a sophisticated take on a comfort-food classic.

We then tried the Savor Signature Sarawak Laksa. This is not the usual curry laksa you find in Kuala Lumpur; it’s a true Sarawakian-style laksa, defined by its intricate blend of spices and sambal. The broth was wonderfully complex, aromatic, and had a beautiful depth that only came from a long-simmered (plant-based) broth. Topped with tofu and tempeh, it was a hearty bowl that warmed the soul. Given that the restaurant is known for its ability to elevate flavours, this laksa stands as a proud testament to their culinary skill .

Finally, for a taste of Indonesian street food, we ordered the Javanese Meatball Bakso. The "meatballs" were remarkably bouncy and flavourful, floating in a light, peppery clear broth. It was the ultimate comfort food, proving that plant-based versions of street food classics can be just as satisfying, if not more so, than their meat-based counterparts.

To wash it all down, the Lemongrass Pandan Tea was the perfect choice. It was incredibly soothing, with the fragrant citrus notes of lemongrass beautifully balanced by the sweet, creamy aroma of pandan. Served warm, it acted as a palate cleanser and a digestif, rounding off a rather indulgent meal on a light and refreshing note.

Savor of Life is more than just a vegetarian restaurant; it's a destination for food lovers. Whether you are a full-time vegan or simply curious about plant-based dining, the menu offers a diverse journey through Asian flavours—from Borneo to Sarawak to Java—all executed with finesse. With its attentive service and cozy atmosphere, it’s a place where you can truly enjoy the "savor of life" . Highly recommended.
