Sai Ping Bar and Restaurant Chiang Mai

Sai Ping Bar and Restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines a relaxed atmosphere with a diverse menu. The ambiance is usually casual and welcoming, making it a great spot for both social gatherings and relaxed meals. The decor often blends modern and traditional elements, creating a cozy yet stylish environment. Depending on the time of day, you might enjoy background music that ranges from chill acoustic tunes to more upbeat tracks in the evening.

The bar usually offers a wide selection of beverages, including craft beers, cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic options. Signature cocktails are often a highlight. The service is generally friendly and attentive, with staff members who are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. If available, outdoor seating can provide a pleasant dining experience, especially during good weather. During my visit, I indulged in a selection of their signature dishes, and each one left a lasting impression.

Pork Neck (Kor Moo Yang):** The grilled pork neck was a masterpiece of flavor and texture. Marinated to perfection, the meat was tender, juicy, and slightly charred on the edges, giving it a delightful smoky aroma. Paired with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce, every bite was a burst of savory goodness. This dish is a must-try for anyone who appreciates well-executed grilled meats.

Thai Steamed Squid (Pla Muek Neung): The Thai steamed squid was a revelation. Fresh, tender squid was steamed to perfection and served with a fragrant, spicy lime and garlic sauce. The dish was light yet packed with bold flavors, showcasing the natural sweetness of the squid. The balance of heat, acidity, and umami was spot-on, making it a refreshing and memorable choice.

Fried Fish (Pla Tod): The fried fish was a crispy, golden delight. The fish was coated in a light, crunchy batter, while the flesh inside remained moist and flaky. Served with a tangy tamarind sauce and a side of fresh herbs, this dish was a perfect harmony of textures and flavors. It’s a classic Thai dish done right, and Sai Ping’s version is among the best I’ve tried.

Glass Noodles Seafood Salad (Yum Woon Sen Talay): The glass noodles seafood salad was a refreshing and vibrant dish. Loaded with fresh shrimp, squid, and mussels, the salad was tossed with glass noodles, herbs, and a zesty lime dressing. The combination of chewy noodles, tender seafood, and crunchy vegetables created a delightful mix of textures. The dressing was perfectly balanced—tangy, spicy, and slightly sweet—making this dish a standout.

Crab Khao Soi: The crab khao soi was the crown jewel of the meal. This Northern Thai classic was elevated with the addition of succulent crab meat. The rich, creamy coconut curry broth was fragrant and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The crispy noodles on top added a satisfying crunch, while the tender crab meat brought a touch of luxury to the dish. It’s a must-order and a true testament to Sai Ping’s culinary prowess.
