AGED Restaurant and Bar
Sometime ago, I had the opportunity to try a new restaurant at the SkyAvenue, up here in Resorts World Genting. The feedback I have been getting about the makeover for the resort is relatively mixed, but everyone agrees that it is so much different (and generally for the better) now than it was years ago.
This restaurant is of great interest to me because it is quickly gaining renown as a place for innovation in cooking. All their meats are aged for a certain number of days, and are cooked only upon ordering, so you will not get some pre-cooked or re-heated meats some establishments are famous for. This is of course important to the discerning meat lover, for much of the texture, juiciness and taste of the meat is much enhanced, guaranteeing a satisfying dining experience.
But this restaurant is not only about their meats! They also have salads, scallops and oysters, foie gras, fish, prawns, pastas, and a wonderful dessert selection. If you like, you can peruse their menu here, or if you would rather watch a video, you can watch this video about their fantastic pancake. The restaurant is newly opened, but you will find that their Facebook page is quite active with teasers about the foods being prepared.

The place is still spanking new, and the deco is the sort that attracts mall goers these days; row upon row of bottles artfully arranged on shelves, nice comfortable furniture and enough floor space for people to move about without bumping into one another.
The location of the restaurant is at one end of SkyAvenue however, if you are walking from First World Hotel to here, you are going to have to pass by all the other great restaurants I have reviewed in order to get here; places like Babajia, Street Churros, La Fiesta and more. But on the positive side, it is the closest to Theme Park Hotel and the massive soon-to-be-opened Fox Century Theme Park, so you may not have to walk that far and get tempted by something else at all to get here. I'm sorry, I have so many favourites it is gonna be hard to pick one unless I go by level!
AGED Restaurant and Bar is staffed by strong, passionate young people who believe in the good work they are doing, that is service with a smile and serving some great foods! Here are some pics of them in action, from the service crew, the chefs and the bartender.
As you can see at a glance at their menu, AGED offers Snacks, Starters, Steaks, Main, Desserts, Brunch, CAT (Coffee & Tea) and Cocktails. They also have Lunch and Dinner Sets! Whilst I was there, we had the opportunity to try a broad range of their offerings, starting with~
Caesar Salad RM 32
This starter is meant for sharing and you cannot really go wrong when it comes to salads. Salad leaves are served together with Jamon Iberico Ham that has been aged for 2 years, Anchovies and Cured Yolk.
Foie Gras RM78 👍
Another starter meant for sharing, the extremely smooth and delectable Foie Gras is served with Apple Raisins, Balsamic Chocolate, Balsamic Pearls and Lime Jelly.
Slow Cook Chicken Breast RM66
Now, I know how some of you feel that Chicken Breast meat is bland, but this interesting option came served with Honey Carrot Puree, Apricot, Walmuts and Crispy Skin. The chicken itself was quite tender and juicy, as opposed to being dry and chewy.
Grilled Iberico Pork Rack RM76 👍
I found this quite to my liking, the Pork Rack certainly deserved a thumbs up as the meat was well-cooked, succulent and tasty. It is served together with a Pineapple and Avocado Salsa and Honey Carrot Puree.
Escargot Risotto RM56
Yes, I know what you are thinking. You are asking yourselves "what am I looking at"? Well friends, this is not the first time I came across something like this, it is actually Risotto mixed with Piquillo Peppers, Smoked Paprika and Parsley Puree. On top of it is placed a crispy Crackles!
Confit Salmon RM76
Beets Puree and Squid Ink Couscous are served together with Chorizo, Ikura and ago Crackle. The salmon itself was nice and flaky.
Tomahawk RM350/kg 👍👍
This was most certainly the highlight of the day, the Australian Black Angus Beef Tomahawk! I cannot praise this dish enough, it was certainly beef served par excellence. the marbling on the beef was superb, even from the pictures you can see the fat has perfectly melted and that the meat itself was very tender and juicy.
Crème Caramel RM32
This smooth dessert was served on a bed of Blood Orange Puree, and adorned with a Sesame Tuile with Balsamic Pearls.
Lemon Tart RM32
This is an intriguing dessert, where Ice Cream is served on a bed of crumble, and accompanied with a Meringue with Lemon Puree on the side.
We had a great selection of drinks to accompany our foods, among them were these cocktails.
Gentlemen Black RM30
Gin, Bamboo Charcoal, Lime
Northern Lights RM30
Gin, Cucumber
Butterfly RM27
Gin, Butterfly Pea, Blueberry
Blue Lady RM27
Vodka, Lychee, Lemon
Irish Coffee RM25
Yuri Matcha RM16
AGED Restaurant and Bar is a great place to experience eating some really good meats that has been aged and cured to enhance rather than preserve the taste. For more information, please contact 03-6101 2688 or visit their website here.
