Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh @ Gaya Street
If you are feeling really hungry and hoping for a fast service, Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh will be a place that I will recommend to you. After trying out Kam Kee and Yu Kee, some of our blog readers recommended us to try out Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh. As according to Paul, this is the very first Bak Kut Teh place in KK. Also located at Gaya Street, Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh is actually sharing the same shop with Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung Chai Kolombong where as one operating during the daytime and another operating during the nighttime.
Although the shop is always crowded with people, their service is extremely fast. Just a few minutes right after we made our orders, our food had arrived. I've always love Bak Kut Teh which is serve in a claypot as it can retain the heat. As compare with Kam Kee and Yu Kee, the Bak Kut Teh at Sin Kee has a strong Dang Gui taste. The soup is slightly salty which go well with rice and there is a hint of bitterness throughout the last bit of the soup. The pork ribs were lean and tender which suits my liking.
The Claypot Chinese Wine Kidney was quite good but the serving size for 1 person is quite small. After tasting the strong flavour of Bak Kut Teh, these dish will become less outstanding or in other words, a little bland. The Chinese Wine and ginger tastes of the soup was a bit mild but the kidney was clean and wasn't smelly(fyi, I can never tolerate with smelly pork's kidney).
