Celebrate World Food Day with Mindful Meals at Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Hilton Kuala Lumpur proudly presents an array of plant-based culinary creations using local produce in partnership with three award-winning meat substitute brands, available exclusively for dine-in from October onwards. In conjunction with World Food Day on 16th October and as part of the Hilton Worldwide Travel with Purpose sustainability programme, Hilton has launched a nationwide “Mindful Meals” campaign to raise awareness on healthy eating and responsible sourcing.
Incorporating meat substitutes and homegrown ingredients, familiar favourites are given a healthier, plant-based twist at the following outlets at Hilton Kuala Lumpur: Chynna, Iketeru, Oro Cafe & The Lounge, and Chamber’s Grill. The collaboration with local farmers and partners Beyond Meat, TiNDLE, and Fable was a timely and much-needed initiative to highlight the best of local food as well as the importance of sustainable and nutritious diets, especially during an age where environmental and health risks are at an all-time high.
With issues from climate change to the rise in fast food production to declining immunity systems and health, Hilton Hotels in Malaysia are encouraging consumers to choose local produce, opt for plant-based and healthy ingredients, find sustainable ways to eat, and go for environmentally-friendly alternatives when it comes to food choices and buying behaviours. National Marketing Communications Director Eugene Oelofse says, “Mindful Meals is all about promoting mindful eating and mindful consumption in an effort to reduce food waste, address food security, and improve health. We wanted to curate a dining experience that is as palate-pleasing as it is purposeful, and we also wanted to give a platform for local farmers and plant-based brands to showcase what they have to offer and unite for a common cause.”
TiNDLE plant-based chicken, is a mouth-watering meat experience that is better for the planet: TiNDLE requires 74% less land, 82% less water while also producing 88% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional chicken. Made with only 9 simple ingredients, TiNDLE contains no antibiotics, hormones or cholesterol, making it a healthier choice, as are the ‘red meat’ options from Beyond Meat and the ‘pulled meat’ version from Fable, the ‘umami’ flavours from mushrooms that won’t leave you with the feeling that you are missing out on your proteins.
The plant-based dishes have been specially crafted by in-house chefs of the participating outlets at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, making use of nutrient-rich and local ingredients that are good for the people, planet, and community. Featured dishes include Beyond Meat Baos at Chynna, Tindle Chicken Katsu Set at Iketeru, Teriyaki Glazed Pulled Fable Meat Baguette at Oro Cafe & The Lounge, and organic vegetable side dishes at Chamber’s Grill. All main dishes will be available for dine-in only from 15th October onwards. The organic side dishes at Chamber’s Grill will be available from 1st October onwards, Friday to Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm.
